Below are the most frequently-asked questions about our product.  If you have a question that's not answered, send it here for a prompt reply!
How does the Tan Thru suit work?
Solar's unique patented fabric is made by using a special knitting technology which creates thousands of tiny pores in the fabric. These pores act as a shade cloth, and filter approximately half the sun's light. This filtering process is comparable to a SPF between 5 and 10 depending on skin type, time of day, and UV index.
Is it possible to suburn through the suit?
It would take a rather prolonged exposure on a mid-summer day to get a sunburn. The key to adding a little color to your life is moderation. Overexposure to the sun will not help you achieve a tan any faster and of course is not recommended.
What other advantages does the fabric offer?
Solar's proprietary blend of materials produce a fabric guaranteed not to run or snag even on rough surfaces or Velcro®. Extremely fast drying. Light, airy fabric allows skin to breathe. Try one and see for yourself!
Are your swimsuits lined?
Yes. The men's and women's front panel on bottoms are lined in nylon. However, the remainder of the suit is not lined in order to allow the UV rays to penetrate through the fabric.
Where are the suits made?
First, the fabric is knit in Germany. It's then printed in Italy, and returned to Germany or Czech Republic to be constructed.

Are the sizes true to form?
Yes, the suit incorporates 4-way stretch Spandex®. You should order your exact size. It is important to understand that the suit should fit snugly such that the pores of the fabric are "stretched and open" for UV rays to penetrate.
Does the material dry quickly?
Extremely quickly. Due to the open pores in the fabric, evaporation occurs at twice the rate of standard spandex.
Are your suits offered in solid colors?
No. We only use solid colors in Tan Thru Fabric as accent splices, as the fabric must be printed to be non see through.
How long will it take to achieve an all-over tan?
It will depend on your skin's ability to produce melanin which is the pigment that darkens when human skin is exposed to sunlight. This is a gradual process. Continuous tanning also ensures a longer lasting tan. To achieve an all over tan, it will be necessary to use a SPF lotion of 6 to 10 (or higher as needed) on skin which is not covered by the suit, the SPF lotion will work in conjunction with the suit's built-in SPF filtration of UV, thus resulting in an all over tan.
Is the Solar Tan Thru® suit see-through?
The Solar Tan Thru Suit is guaranteed not to be see-through when worn wet or dry. This remarkable feature is achieved with Solar's unique prints which create a high contrast of colors. Such contrast tricks the eyesight creating an optical inability for the human eye to see past any print when the suit is worn.
Does the suit come with tanning instructions?
Yes, each suit comes with complete tanning instructions to help you safely and quickly get that all-over tan!  Tanning instructions are also available here.
What kind of fabric are the suits made from?
The fabric content consists of 68% nylon and 32% Spandex®. No chemicals or other treatments are applied to the fabric to induce tanning. Garment care is the same as with a traditional swimsuit.
Can the suits be worn in a tanning salon?
Yes. UV tanning rays will penetrate the fabric while in a tanning bed. SPF levels of the suit will tend to be lower due to UV rays coming from multiple light sources "tanning lamps," rather than a single source "the sun" in outdoor tanning. SPF levels therefore range from 2 to 6 depending on the type of tanning bed used.
Can you use the suit for water sports?
Yes. This suit is a full-function suit. Due to the suit's extremely high Spandex® content (32%), the suit has twice the flexibility of movement compared to a traditional lycra spandex swimsuit. Also, due to pores in the fabric, water will not 'dam' inside the suit. This can be important for competitive swimmers.
Is this the same Tan Thru® suit sold a few years ago?
The Tan-Thru suit was originally offered in 100% cotton. This cotton suit had many problems--including the suit being 'see-through' when wet. All of the technical problems associated with the original cotton suit have now been overcome by our past 10 years of product development and improvements.
